Recipe for Life is Sweet

Ingredients:
2 pcs. 12x12 red cardstock
1 pc. 12x12 medium green cardstock
1 pc. 12x12 light green cardstock
1 pc. 12x12 white cardstock
1 pc. 12x12 pattern paper / tablecloth pattern
1 pc. 12x12 black cardstock
1pkg. Watermelon embellishments
1pc. red/white/gingham ribbon approx. 4 inches long
red ink pad
adhesive

Tools needed:
12x12 paper cutter
teardrop paper punch
standard stapler
scissors

Directions:
Start by laying out the 2 pcs of red cardstock. Cut the shades of green cardstock into 3 pcs. 4"x12" each. Take one light and one dark piece of the cardstock and put them together. Holding upright tear toward you along the right side from top to bottom tearing both pieces at the same time. Do the same with the next two pieces, take the light pieces and tear into one inch wide strips, reversing every other piece so you get a torn edge look on both sides of each piece. Now adhere the pieces starting from left to right on each of the dark green pieces, lining up along the top edge. Giving you the look of a watermelon rind. The bottom edges will be uneven. So you'll want to cut straight along the bottom edge and even them up. Adhere the rind onto the bottom edge of the 2 pieces of red 12x12 cardstock. Cut the white cardstock and pattern paper as desired for matting your photos. Red ink was used around the white cardstock edges. Place your photos where desired. Make a tag from the last 2 strips of light and dark green cardstock and staple the ribbon at the top. May be used as a journaling box. Place the 3D watermelon embellishments where desired, The final touches are the watermelon seeds. Place your title "Life is Sweet" across the bottom of your 2 page layout.

Add your photos and enjoy your finished layout!
